What To Do To Get Healthy Nails

Healthy nails say a lot about you. Keep it well groomed and it is a sign that you are good at taking care of your body. Healthy nails are also good indications of your general health.Vitamin deficiencies for example can easily be checked by looking at your fingernails. If you want to keep them healthy, here are some things you need to avoid:

Too much salt on your food is not only bad for your liver. It can also hurt your nails. External fibrous growths are indications that you are eating too much salty foods. You should also avoid staying up all night and not getting enough sleep. Sleep deprivation can cause anemia or iron deficiency. These can result to having white half moons on your nails, brittle nails, and having pale nail beds.

So apart from avoiding too much salty foods and sleeping on time, you should also learn what to eat. Zinc for example can help significantly in nail growth. Oysters, veal liver, sesame seed, dark chocolate, and peanuts are just some of the foods rich in zinc.

Foods rich in vitamin A should also be a regular part of your diet if you want healthy nails and a healthier you as a whole. Sweet potatoes, carrots, lettuce, cantaloupe, and dark and green leafy vegetables are rich in vitamin A so go for it.

Aside from all these, you should also protect your nails from sustaining damage. Dishwashing liquids or detergents can be harsh on your nails which is why you should wear gloves when washing the dishes or doing the laundry.
