Nail Art: The Beginner’s Guide

Okay, you’re jealous about your friend’s colorful nail art and you want one too. Right. However, before you jump into painting and sticking art works on your nails, there is a beginner’s guide you need to follow especially if you are, er, a novice when it comes to nail art.

Remember, you’re not just applying some flashy colors, you’re basically doing some serious art here. Now, don’t put too much pressure on yourself because we’ll take it one step at a time.

Step 1: Keep it simple

Again, don’t put too much pressure on yourself. Take it slowly and start from there. Some of the simple designs you can do are tips, polka dots, and leopard prints. You can actually try different stuff like stamping, tape manicures, as well as water marbling. The point here is for you to get comfortable with the designing and be able to explore as well as try styles, so, you can figure out what you like best.

Step 2: Use tools

Don’t worry if you don’t have nail art tools like art brushes, etc. There are alternatives, like for nail art brushes a good substitute would be a striper polish which comes in white, black, and red.

For dotting tools, there’s the tip of the bobby pin or a tooth pick.

Step 3: Plan designs

Planning the nail art design by drawing it out first is better because you can use it for reference while you’re designing your nails.

Step 4: If you ruined your design, just continue

Well, not literally continue messing up everything but continue by simply figuring out a way out.

Like for instance, your line didn’t go straightly as it should be, sort it out by doing something different that will still make the design look good.

Step 5: Polish your design

After you’ve finished the design, it’s time to do some polishing by keeping the cuticles and edges of your nails from any polish smudges. And lastly, apply a topcoat, which you can dry for 30 to 45 minutes and you’re ready to go!
